F&O EXPIRY SESSION ENDED ON A FLAT NOTE

Nifty closed with a gain of three points at 7738. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,728 hitting a high of 7778 and low of 7702. In intraday deals, the Sensex today touched high of 25,480 and low of 25223 and Nifty moved in a band of 75 points. It was a gloomy day but a sensational month as the NSE Nifty surged by over 10% in the month of March. The Indian equity market closed with modest gains amid a day full of wild gyrations. The broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices closed half a per cent higher. A total of 32 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 30 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE Corporate India is back to investing once again. There are ongoing efforts, too, at cleaning up balance sheets, which is evident from the number of asset sales that have taken place in the last few weeks The financial year 2015-16 was pathetic for market as benchmarks shed 9 percent due to failure in passing GST bill in parliament, China concerns, lack of reforms, slow investments in infrastructure . Selling on the counters of public lenders, IT and financial services capped the gains on the benchmarks. On the sectoral front, the BSE Consumer Durables index was the top gainer, ending higher by 1.21 per cent. Hitachi Home and Rajesh Exports were the top contributors. The market breadth was negative for the day with 16 of the BSE30 stocks ending the session with losses The Indian Rupee was trading up by 12 paise at 66.25 per US dollar. Tata Power, Idea Cellular, ZEEL, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma, TCS, UltraTech Cement were among the gainers on NSE, whereas SBI, ONGC, Coal India, Tata Steel, Vedanta, BhartiAirtel and Asian Paints were among the losers today.
