Sensex down 40 points; PSU, oil & gas stocks slip

The Sensex and Nifty were trading marginally lower due to profit-booking by funds and retail investors amid weak global cues. Sensex was down 40.07 points or 0.12 percent at 33,684.37 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was down 8.55 points or 0.08 percent at 10,391. Time Technoplast Ltd rose 5.4% to Rs197.50 Mahanagar Gas Ltd rose 2% to Rs1,125.55 Rallis India Ltd rose 5% to Rs241.10 Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd fell 2% to Rs580.5
GLOBAL MARKET:
Asian shares stepped back from decade highs as Chinese stocks stumbled for a second straight session, while the US dollar trod water ahead of a crucial Senate vote on tax reform. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia–Pacific shares outside Japan slipped 0.3 percent from last week’s high of 570.21 points. It was on track to end November in the black.
