NIFTY ENDS ABOVE 10,500 ON LAST DAY OF 2017

Equity benchmarks ended the last day of the year on a strong note as the Sensex gained 208 points or 0.62 percent to end at a new closing peak of 34,056. the Nifty rose 52 points or 0.5 percent to finish at 10,530. For the year, the Nifty has risen 28 percent, while the Sensex has climbed 27 percent. Aarti Industries Ltd shares surged 7.03% to Rs1143. Biocon shares traded 0.80% lower Rs535. Infibeam Incorporation Ltd declined over 40% to Rs 98 on the back of higher volumes. The stock fell 0.5% so far this year. Jaiprakash Associate Ltd rose 5%, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd rose 14% while Jaypee Infratech Ltd rose 7%. Reliance Capital Ltd rose 4%, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd rose 1.8%, Reliance Naval and Engineering Ltd 4.3%, Reliance Power Ltd rose 4%.
GLOBAL MARKET:
Globally, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.42% while Japan’s Nikkei up 0.25% in early trade. Shanghai-traded too gained 0.16%. The US Dow Jones closed 0.26% higher on Thursday. SENSEX, NIFTY CLOSE LOWER ON F&O EXPIRY DAY

The Sensex and Nifty ended lower for a second straight session on Thursday due to derivatives expiry and on lingering concerns over the target. The Sensex dropped 63 points or 0.19 percent to 33,848, while nifty fell 12.85 points or 0.12 percent to 10,477.90 Vedanta Ltd rose as much as 2.7 percent and was on track for a third straight session of gains. Hindalco Industries Ltd, which produces aluminum and copper, surged as much as 4.9 percent to hit a record high. Pharma stocks were little changed after rising over the last four sessions, with Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd dropping more than 1 percent.
GLOBAL MARKET:
Asian shares rose to a one-month high on Thursday and were on track for their best annual performance since 2009, while commodity-driven currencies were buoyed by a rally in copper, which hit a four-year peak. MSCI's broadest index of Asia–Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.1 percent at 563.86 points, a level last visited in late November. It has rocketed 32 percent in the year so far. MSCI world equity index,  which tracks shares in 47 countries, also held near record highs. It has surged 21.5 percent this year. Trade was light across the board with many market participants on holiday.

SENSEX FALLS 99 PTS; NIFTY BELOW 10,500

The Sensex and Nifty retreated from record highs hit earlier in the day due to profit-booking by funds and retail investors in recent outperformers amid firm global cues. The Sensex ended the session down by 98.80 points or 0.29 percent at 33,911, after earlier rising as much as 0.37 percent to a record high of 34,137. Similarly, Nifty closed lower by 40.75 points or 0.39 percent at 10,491, after earlier climbing as much as 0.20 percent to an all-time high of 10,566.Shares of Reliance Communications rallied 25 percent in Wednesday's trade as the company has unveiled a plan to exit its ongoing strategic debt restructuring exercise and reduce its debt by 87 percent to about 6,000 crores. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries climbed 6.89 percent to Rs 577. Divi's Laboratories, Dhunseri Petrochem, Graphite India, Jindal Steel & Power, Kalpataru Power Transmission, Larsen & Toubro, Minda Corporation, PC Jeweller, Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Wockhardt and Zydus Wellness also joined the bandwagon of stocks that hit fresh 52-week highs today
GLOBAL MARKET:
China's blue-chip CSI300 index was down 1.54 percent. The Shanghai Composite index was down 30.73 points or 0.93 percent at 3,275.40, marking their biggest loss in two weeks amid signs of slowing economic growth and year-end liquidity tightness, Reuters reported
